Criminal Law
Jennifer prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court and Magistrates' courts. When prosecuting she primarily acts for the CPS or the Probation Service. Jennifer is a Grade 1 CPS Prosecutor and also has experience of prosecuting for other agencies such as the Department for Work and Pensions and Transport for London.
Jennifer has undertaken numerous trials in the Crown Court for both the Defence and Prosecution, and has experience of a wide variety of matters, including offences of serious violence, possession of offensive weapons, people trafficking, serious robberies and burglary among others.
Jennifer also has experience of arguing defences such as necessity especially in cases involving road traffic offences, in which she is frequently instructed. She is particularly interested in dealing with young offenders, and has substantial experience defending young people both in the Youth court and the Crown Court for serious matters such as robbery (including a recent case involving a firearm), and offences of serious violence up to and including grievous bodily harm. Additionally she has substantial experience in defending ASBO applications, both stand alone and post conviction ASBOs, especially involving young and vulnerable people.
Extradition Law
Jennifer also acts for the requested person in extradition cases, and has undertaken contested extradition trials, considering the usual bars to extradition as well as human rights arguments.
Prison Law
Jennifer has experience in this important area of law, and has been instructed in cases before the parole board and in prison adjudications.
