Professional Experience
A founding member of Middle Temple Lane Chambers, Charles has a predominantly Criminal Practice, however does undertake some Civil work. He is popular, approachable and respected amongst both professional and lay clients.
Charles has defended in numerous Crown Court trials, including attempted murder, serious sexual assaults, robbery and s20 assaults, many burglary and possession of drugs and weapons matters as well as driving and theft trials. He is also used to Prosecution including terrorism, drugs importation, kidnap, murder and rape allegations.
Charles was called to the Bar in November 2001 and undertook his pupillage at 6 Kings Bench Walk, becoming a tenant at 2 Kings Bench Walk. When 2 Kings Bench Walk ceased trading he became a founding member of these Chambers.
Before being called to the Bar, Charles, an Old Etonian, was the winner of major awards of a Benefactor's and Residential Scholarship from the Middle Temple and worked as a volunteer in FRU, Howard League and Inquest. Between June 1992 and 2003 he worked for the Legal Department of Corpa Publicidad, Caracas, Venezuela; as an Assistant to the CEO of the Legal Agency 'Access to Justice' and as a Stagere for the advisor to the Chief Unit A (Policy and International Relations), Competition Directorate, European Commission, Brussels.
