Professional Experience
Natasha has a mixed common law practice.
Her experience encompasses a broad range of criminal conduct including attempted murder, drugs, sexual offences and fraud to road traffic offences, criminal damage, regulatory and public order offences. Natasha conducts both prosecution and defence work and has appeared in the Magistrates', Youth and Crown Court.
Natasha is instructed on a broad spectrum of public and private law family work such as contact, residence and parental responsibility including contested final hearings. Natasha has also conducted matters concerning disputes between married and unmarried couples in the context of domestic violence using experience gained from her criminal practice.
In the field of personal injury Natasha has experience of representing both claimants and defendants (including individuals and public sector bodies) in a broad range of personal injury litigation, including fatal accident, workplace injury resulting in fractures, burns and amputations and clinical negligence following surgery with causation issues.
Natasha takes a pro-active role in the entire litigation process including drafting, advising on issues of liability and quantum, procedural points and drafting schedules of loss. Natasha has also represented tenants in possession claims.
Prior to commencing a career at the English bar Natasha completed a common law pupillage in Trinidad and Tobago. Natasha dealt with cases concerning personal injury, medical negligence, robbery and perverting the course of justice. In what is a fused profession she has a keen awareness of the needs of her professional clients.
Furthermore, pursuant to her longstanding interest in civil liberties Natasha has undertaken an internship at the Public Interest Litigation Clinic, Kansas City, Missouri to assist the representation of those on death row.
Overall her common law experience ensures versatility and high quality written work. She has provided extensive assistance in the form of legal research, drafting and opinion writing for Queens Counsel in Trinidad and Tobago and England including most recently drafting grounds of appeal for the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in relation to a death penalty case originating from the Caribbean.
