Professional Experience
Following her Call to the Bar in 2007, Nisha completed a specialist criminal pupillage, undertaking both defence and prosecution work. In her criminal defence practice, she has represented a wide range of clients and has considerable experience representing both those with substantial mental health difficulties and juveniles. She has been instructed in cases involving: sexual offences; serious violence; possession of weapons; witness intimidation; supply of Class A drugs; multi-handed robberies; threats to kill; public order; dishonesty offences and driving matters including those where serious injury been caused.
Having spent a significant part of her pupillage at the Old Bailey on the £53 million Securitas armed robbery trial, Nisha has particular experience in dealing with issues of dangerousness, expert cell site evidence and extensive CCTV footage.
Her prosecution work involves acting on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service, Probation Service, Department for Work & Pensions, HM Revenue & Customs and the Child Support Agency.
Nisha practises in civil law acting for both Claimants and Defendants. Prior to commencing pupillage she acted as a solicitors' agent in a wide range of hearings including those involving: mortgage possessions; mortgage applications; charging orders; and infant settlements. Nisha has considerable experience dealing with road traffic matters. She also advises on liability and quantum and drafts statements of case.
In accordance with her year of Call, Nisha also accepts instructions in employment and immigration law as she develops her practice in these areas.
